Rifters

Collaborating with an aspiring South Island gin brand to cement naming and story themes.

About

Rifters is a New Zealand gin brand with headquarters in the striking Central Otago countryside. I was engaged directly by founders Stuart and Hamish to work on early-stage brand identity and product development. Stuart and Hamish knew what they wanted the brand to look and feel like, but needed help cementing naming, identity and story themes.

Approach

I travelled to Arrowtown for two brand development sessions, where I spent time talking to Stuart and Hamish about their goals and aspirations, researching the rich gold-mining history of the area and absorbing the stark beauty of the landscape. 

 

Result

When I returned to Auckland I prepared and presented numerous naming concepts and corresponding storyline sketches before Stuart and Hamish decided on Rifters.
